Event Description

Companies and their Boards are facing increasing challenges every day. The requirements put on individual Board members, the knowledge base required and the level of involvement is greater than they have ever been. In this environment how do companies go about the job of recruiting the talent they need at the Board level? What are the common practices in the process? What criteria do they use to select new Board members? And once they know what they want how do they go about finding them? Come to this program to gain insight into the process, compare your company to best practices and get some ideas on how to position yourself for future board positions.

ROBERT FERGUSON

Robert Ferguson is Office Managing Director and Senior Client Partner of Korn/Ferry International's San Francisco office. He is a member of the Firm's Global Life Sciences Market. During his 25 years in executive search, Ferguson has developed a special expertise in healthcare-related clients. He specializes in identifying top talent for Global 1000 and Fortune 500 corporations, as well as start-up and fast-growth companies. Before joining Korn/Ferry in 1997, Ferguson was a managing director for a Princeton, New Jersey-based boutique search firm specializing in healthcare products.

TIM O'SHEA

Tim O'Shea is a Partner of Heidrick & Struggles, based in Menlo Park, California. He co-founded the firm's Semiconductor Practice in 1999. Since then, he has built an international reputation in the semiconductor industry, based on successfully completing senior-level search assignments for many of the world's premier semiconductor companies. His work today focuses on consulting with clients on talent acquisition strategies, and on recruiting board members and CEOs. O'Shea began doing executive search in 1979, while at Price Waterhouse & Co. In 1981, he co-founded a general management-consulting firm. He returned to search in 1991, co-founding O'Shea, Divine & Co., a boutique search firm based in Newport, California.

ED BOREY

Ed Borey serves as a Public Company Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Board Member focused on global technology enterprises. His international business experience has been gained as an executive responsible for overall global operations or segments of global operations i.e. marketing, manufacturing and product development, as well as, an expatriate living and working in Asia and Europe managing specific functions. Borey's board experience consists of serving on four public company boards, one public company advisory board, one private company board and two not-for-profit boards.

ANNE FARRELL

Anne Farrell is President Emeritus of the Seattle Foundation. She currently serves on the boards of REI, KCTS Channel 9 Public Television Seattle Symphony Foundation, Seattle University, and the University of Washington Foundation. She previously served as trustee of Children's Hospital and Medical Center, board member and officer of Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, and board member of Council on Foundation and Independent Sector. In addition, she has previously chaired the boards of REI and PREMERA Blue Cross.
